Betsey DeLoache is a speaker with the South Dakota Humanities Council and an independent speaker as a resident of South Carolina. She has been a keynote speaker and sessions speaker at various national conferences, as well as touring all over the State of South Dakota since 2015. She is interested in promoting the history of country schools and the stories told by teachers and students, preserving their memories. Country schools produced Valedictorians, leaders, and a strong sense of community. Betsey has published three large volumes of stories with illustrations of the schoolhouses.
As of 2020, she began collecting stories of students and teachers in South Carolina to add to the power point presentation. The passion of the students and teachers when they tell their stories has motivated Betsey to continue collecting and promoting the stories for groups of all ages.
